Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need a diagnosis to attend your programs and services?

No, your child does not require a diagnosis to attend our programs and services.

What is the registration process?

We have a rolling admissions policy, and enrollments may take place throughout the year. First, we will reach out to answer any questions you have. Next, you and your child will be invited to attend a 45-min intake session. This is an informal assessment and an opportunity for you to meet the team and see our program in action. You will then be notified when there is an available space for your child.

Is your program full-time or part-time? Can my child attend for only some of the days?

Children attend our early intervention program Monday-Friday. We have three options: Morning, afternoon, or full day.  We do not currently offer part-time schedules.

For part-time services, we offer The Balance Program or Practical Functional Assessment & Skills Based Treatment (see below). We also offer 8-week social skills groups at various times throughout the year.

How are your programs and services funded?

We are a fee-for-service program, meaning families pay directly for our programs and services.  Families who have received funding for Core Clinical Services through the Ontario Autism Program may use their funding for our programs and services.

What is The Balance Program?

If you are not able to enroll your child in our full-time program at this time, The Balance Program might be right for you!  Parents and children attend 1-2 sessions per week with a clinician at TACT, and practice 10-20 minutes per day at home, for 12 weeks.  Contact us for more information!

What is Practical Functional Assessment & Skill Based Treatment?

If you are not able to enroll in our full-time program at this time, and your child engages in problem behavior that interferes with his/her participation at school, home, or in the community, PFA/SBT might be right for you! Your child attends for 5 hours per week for 10-12 weeks. Contact us for more information!

Do you have a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) and an Occupational Therapist in your program?

We work collaboratively with SLP and OT professionals. Your child may access these services at TACT with one of our interdisciplinary partners.

Do you provide home services?

We do not currently provide home-based services. However, for children enrolled in our full-time program, we may schedule home visits as needed.
